Pray for Enemy's

Introduction to this section:

Though I am a child of God, I make mistakes.....'miss the 'mark', so to speak. I strive to be quick to ask God's forgiveness, and be restored to fellowship with Him, through His Son - Jesus - who died to pay for my sin.

In my quiet times with God, I ask Him to show me where I need to change, and how I can avoid sin. Sometimes, when praying or meditating on His Word, I am given an insight. I  record the insight in my journal, internalize it, and strive to live it out. This is my way of seeking to change and grow in Him.

In this section of our web site, I will share a few insights that are, for me, significant examples of this principal. I would be privileged to hear about your experiences and insights if you are willing to share them with me. Shirley@healynet.net

SONshine Behind the Clouds

As a missionary, I was returning to my assigned country after a two-month emergency visit to the United States. After nearly 24 hours of travel, through 3 airports, with little sleep, I prayed as we approached our destination and thanked God for His faithfulness. My son had undergone successful heart surgery and I was full of peace and gratitude for God's presence, protection, and peace in every way. I also thanked Him for the opportunity to fellowship with family and friends before returning to Europe.

It was 8:00 a.m. and as I prepared for our landing, I raised the window shade for light to gather my things. I was suddenly privileged to view the sight of a beautiful clear blue sky and a bright orange sun. It was November-2001, and I had many reasons to give God thanks for good weather and for the uneventful, flight.

Then, just as the plane began to descend, the sun and blue sky disappeared as we descended through one of the thickest cloud covers I have ever seen. It seemed a long time before the plane finally broke through the cloud cover, only to reveal a very bleak and wet sight below.....

Struck by the stark contrast, a momentary sadness came over me. But, as I thought about the contrast, God opened my eyes to a truth that encouraged me. He showed me that no matter how thick the dark clouds may be, the sun is always shining above them.  In that moment, I thanked God that His SON is always with us, ready to shine His "Sonlight" in our lives, regardless of the dark cloud of trials that we may pass through at any time. I also asked God to help our country see Jesus, through the dark clouds of terrorism that seemed to block out all else.
