Are You About God’s “Busyness”?

Do you know someone who is “busy for God” and “burning both ends of the candle?”

Make no mistake, God wants us to be on fire for Him, but not at the expense of our health and relationship with Him. Sometimes we are so busy being “busy” for Him, that we do not take the time to listen to Him and we go our way instead of His.

In Luke 10: 38-42, “a woman named Martha welcomed Jesus into her home.” Her sister Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, listening to Him and Martha complained to Jesus that Mary had left her to do all the serving alone. She even asked Him to tell Mary to help her. The Lord said, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Life Application Study Bible, Updated NASB)

Are you like Martha – or – Mary? I pray you will choose the “good part”, which shall never be taken from you. Take time to be with the Lord daily, as Mary did, then listen to Him and follow where He leads. Guard your rest and your quiet time, pace yourself, seek Him, for He will not lead you to “Busyness”!

God May Slow Us Down ©

Sometimes God may slow us down,

Attracting our attention.

He’ll use just what He must to reach us,

In our own dimension.

Though we may think it sudden,

And question why it came,

It just may mean we didn’t hear Him,

Whispering our name.

And once He sees that we are quiet,

Softly He will speak,

Reminding us that He’s our strength,

In times when we are weak.

He longs to see us whole and strong,

Abiding in His Word.

He watches, waiting faithfully,

To see His message heard.

My prayer is that you hear His voice,

Then answer when He calls,

Remembering to guard your health,

While giving Him your all.

And when you’re feeling “busy”

And don’t know what to do,

I pray you’ll choose the “good part,”

Which shall not depart from you!
